2023 Crab Feed

The Carson City Host Lions are pleased to announce the 22nd Annual Crab Feed will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Pavilion in Fuji Park, Carson City, Nevada, beginning at 6 p.m.   Tickets are $75 per person and may be purchased by calling Lion Tim Kniffen at 775-430-1083 or Lion Terry Rubald at 775-720-9005.

The Lions, with the help of Celebrity Chef Jonathan Chapin and his team, will serve up Dungeness crab, roasted beef tri-tip, salad, bread, and ice cream by local creamery Hoch Family Creamery.  There will be music, dancing, raffle prizes and and a silent auction to raise funds for Lions’ projects.

Chef Chapin produces a weekly Facebook Live cooking show called Reno Recipes. The company Reno Recipes is committed not only to excellence in food and service but also to community. He works with families in need and other Northern Nevada nonprofits. He is also featured every Tuesday morning on KOLO Channel 8 Morning Break with a new segment called KOLO Cooks.

Carson City Host Lions have raised thousands of dollars since the Club first started in 1932 to support numerous projects, including the sight preservation program, Leader Dogs for the Blind, Lions Project for Canine Companions for Independence (LPCCI), Lions Eye Foundation of Nevada and California, and Lions In Sight.

“Lions serve our community in a number of ways, including vision preservation, hunger relief, and youth services.  Donations received from the Crab Feed will allow Lions to help those in our community to get eye exams and glasses, support high school scholarships and several other programs. Lions members thank everyone who contributes to this important work. You are truly helping Lions make a difference in our community,” said Lion Terry Rubald, president of the club.

The Lions couldn’t put on a Crab Feed for 400 people without a lot of help.  Besides Lions volunteers, members of the Carson High School Band will serve the feast and members of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes will help with clean-up.

Special thanks goes to our Gold Sponsor Greater Nevada Credit Union which has supported this event for years with donations, providing supplies, buying tables, and raffle prizes.  Thanks also goes to Silver Sponsor Carson Tahoe Hospital for its contributions in support of Lions’ projects.
