Carson City Host Lions – October 27, 2025, Bulletin Highlights

The October 27, 2025, bulletin recaps a busy time of service and community connection for the Carson City Host Lions. The Club welcomed guest speaker Melissa Elges, Director of the Carson Tahoe Health Foundation, who shared details on the Foundation’s new “Healing Our Kids and Community” initiative—an early-intervention mental-health program using themed “Vehicles of Change” vans to bring play-based education directly to local youth.

Lions also heard from Past District Governor Adam Hopkins, who discussed his campaign for International Director and the Reno Cigar Lions’ e-waste fundraising project.

The Board Meeting covered final reports for LCIF and District 46 grants used to buy a new vision-screening machine, plans for Nevada Day Parade button sales, school vision screenings, and the upcoming See’s Candy fundraiser. The club also reviewed future service ideas for Lions International’s Weeks of Service—including mental health, hunger, and environmental initiatives—and committed to hosting a new-member orientation in January.

Members recently helped with the 2025 Kids Fishing Day and are gathering candy donations for the Governor’s Mansion Halloween event. The next evening meeting is scheduled for October 27th, 2025 at Red’s Old 395 Grill.
